what is  the main character in your book like ? describe him using words and phrases from the book.

Richard is a young black boy,growing  up in a dysfunctional family.His mother work all the time and never has any time for him.His father left them when he was at a very young age.Richard is very fearful at time because he doesn't always know how to take care of himself and take control of what he wants. For "this horse has to drink ,uncle Hoskins said grimly.Lashing the back of the struggling animal.The buggy went farther into the river and the horse slowed a little and tossed his head above the current .I grabbed the sides of the buggy ready to jump even though I could not swim ."Sit down you'll fall Out!' shouted Uncle Hoskins."

Richard doesn't care about his father, he learns a lot from his mother, and takes everything he learns from her seriouly. (page 18) He actually stood up for himself.

Richard feels Aleinated at some moments  (page 29). When Richard's mother leaves him and his brother at the orphanage he feels that he has to prove that he can stay there while his mother earns money so that they can leave to go live wit the grandmother. When the mother comes to visit her children Miss Simon says that she is going to spoil them becuase she sees them to much.
